I previously wrote about how I’d be in a winter wonderland for my holiday vacation and shared my skin care tips for protecting dry skin in the cold. In preparation for my 3 day stay in the desert and a 4 day stay in the mountains, I packed up my hydrating toner, moisturizer, moisturizer with SPF and serum awaiting the fresh air away from the cities. While enjoying myself in the sun of Palm Springs, I had mistakenly left a few of my precious beauty staples at the resort (you’re welcome for the free goods, maid service). Upon getting settled at the next resort in Lake Arrowhead, my heart dropped and panic ensued. I had prepared and taken the extra time to get the beauty products I needed for the perfect winter skin care routine and my serum and moisturizer with SPF were long gone. Wait a tick! I had stowed a few Beautyfix items in my purse just for these last minute cases. Ole Henriksen’s Truth Revealed Super Cream SPF 15 and Dermacyte’s Oxygen Concentrate to the rescue and both in a convenient travel size.
Not to fear Beautyfix is always here and again, it saved my skin. Just my luck, the travel sizes were the perfect fit for my 4 days in the cold, mountain air. 1st stop after cleansing, Dermacyte’s Oxygen Concentrate. This concentrate is meant to be used as a spot treatment for fine lines, blemishes, scars or imperfections, but in true beauty addict form, I slathered the application all over my face each day for my dry skin. What does it do? It’s an all-purpose hypoallergenic serum specifically designed to enhance oxygen delivery promoting a healthier, more radiant complexion. It helps reverse the signs of aging, reduce the appearance of blemishes and delivers essential moisture leaving your skin rejuvenated and brighter.
Always remember that when you have over-dried skin, it can lead to breakouts so always use a moisturizer no matter your skin type. I don’t leave the house without a good layer of moisturizer and SPF to go along with it. Ole Henriksen’s Truth Revealed Crème SPF 15 was a pleasant surprise. I’ve found a new favorite and I will be hoarding these little jars. This little cream smells very delicate and contains micro algae and peptides to increase collagen production, help smooth fine lines and wrinkles and improve microcirculation for enhanced skin radiance. Not to forget, it also has Vitamin C to even your skin tone with a time-released delivery system giving you long lasting hydration and brilliant skin. It’s just another plus that this cream has an SPF in it as well.
The verdict: My skin has never felt or looked better! Combined with the fresh mountain air, my skin is supple, soft and completely blemish free. I have been face makeup free since the first day using both of these products. My skin is looking that clear right now! I don’t mean to brag, but if you’re looking for a dynamic duo, these two Beautyfix items definitely do the trick!
Dry skin care tip: Using creams that contain higher concentrations of essential fatty acids is the best way to maintain a soft and glowing complexion in even the coldest of environments. Oils like sunflower seed, grape seed, black currant, hazelnut, avocado, sesame, almond and wheat germ all have a high content of essential fatty acids and are known for their ability to comfort, soothe and protect skin. Fats do not freeze in cold weather, unlike water and water based extracts, so they will help maintain a velvety skin texture and prevent capillary breakage.
