Black Friday Survival Guide

Thursday, November 24th, 2011

AH! Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, is a highly anticipated day. Retailers offer great deals for smart holiday shoppers. Some major retailers open their doors late Thanksgiving night, while others offer door-buster specials for the early birds. Be smarter than the rest! Use these quick tips to get incredible deals! Shop til you drop without the stress!

1) Keep your eyes on the prize

There will be a lot of shops with great deals. Don’t get sidetracked! Avoid overspending by going in with a list of items you want and stick to your list.

2) Cyber Monday

I discovered this last year! It’s a great way to score on amazing deals! I understand that you won’t get the instant gratification of walking out of the store with your new goodies. But! Retailers will offer coupons, discounts, free shipping and amazing savings on popular items. Hop on your computer Cyber Monday! You’ll be surprised!

3) Do your research

Know the deals before they happen and then shop accordingly. If you already know what stores you plan to hit, it will make the process go a little faster.

4.) Avoid the dressing room like the plague

Okay great, you saw this amazing sweater and you’re not sure what size will fit best. But, do you really want to waste time standing in a line to see it in the mirror? Spend your days leading up to Black Friday trying things on. This way you will know what size you need when you find that too-cute sweater the day after Turkey Day.

5.) Bring a friend!

Bringing a buddy with you helps in a major way. While you are stuck in a line that wraps around the store, your friend can be out looking for the next store you’re going to hit. Travel in numbers. You’ll be thankful you did.

6.) Dress accordingly

Committing to the biggest shopping day of the year is no easy task. You need to be ready for this shopping adventure. Wear comfortable shoes, and maybe even add in a shoe insert for extra cushion. This will help you cope with being on your feet all day.
