Best Conditioner For Dry Hair: Nick Chavez Ultra Shine Honey-Peppermint Conditioner

best conditioner for dry hairSo, since I live in California and it’s almost 80 today, I know I shouldn’t really be complaining too much. BUT, we’ve had our share of cold weather here this winter, and as a result, my skin and my hair have been feeling super dry and dehydrated. And since I do a lot to my hair, I’m always on the hunt for the best conditioner for dry hair. Well, this season of Beautyfix threw one right onto my desk with Nick Chavez Ultra Shine Honey-Peppermint Conditioner. I love, love, love this awesome product!

First things first: a good hair conditioner is a good hair conditioner—regardless of scent. But we all love it when our hair products smell nice, don’t we? In addition to passing the smell test with its refreshing, sweet-yet-minty scent, this one leaves my hair silky-smooth and hydrated in spite of all the heat-styling and chemical processing I subject it to. I’ve tried (and loved!) other products from the Nick Chavez family and I have to say that, as amazing as all of them are, this is my new favorite. The condition of my hair has really and truly improved.

Another helpful hint for ladies hoping to maintain long, luscious locks: take it easy with the shampoo! At first it may seem weird, the idea of washing every other day or (gasp) once or twice a week. But I’m telling you, it’s really one of the best things you can do for your hair. I know the idea sounds all the more crazy if you’re an avid worker-outer. How can I possibly skip a day of shampoo when I’m covered in sweat? you ask. Just rinse your hair with water and apply a good hair conditioner like this one to your ends. Give it a few months and I guarantee you your hair will be shinier, softer and just better in general.

Beautyfix Obsession: La Roche-Posay Effaclar Purifying Foaming Gel

Even though I have a few long-standing favorites, I am always on the hunt for the best facial cleanser. And because I use something with a high percentage of glycolic acid every other day, I crave something that’s gentle yet thorough. I want all my makeup gone the first go—eye makeup included—and I want my skin to feel soft and healthy post-cleanse, not tight and dry (especially during these chilly winter months). Sun Damage Control: Kinerase PhotoFacials Night Moisturizer

This time of year, sun damage is something that’s on everyone’s mind. Summer’s over, the tan’s faded … and, if you’re like many women, hyperpigmentation is beginning to rear its ugly head, along with some new fine lines and a less-than-perfect rough texture. What’s a girl to do?

Beautyfix Spotlight: jane iredale Eye Gloss

Eye gloss, you ask? Sure, it may sound like somewhat of an out-there product, but believe me when I say I was SO happy once I tried jane iredale’s Eye Gloss in Brown Silk, which is one of the new Beautyfix products offered this season.

Though the tube makes the eye gloss look like it’s literally a gloss for your eyes, don’t be alarmed—it’s actually a beautiful, sheer, long-lasting eye shadow that comes out in liquid form and dries to a sheer finish, leaving a buildable—and blendable—wash of color. This shade of the eye gloss is as versatile as they come and will complement a variety of skin tones while working with every eye color. If you’re a blue-eyed gal (like me!) the warmth of the eye gloss will contrast nicely against your peepers, giving you a standout look that takes very minimal effort. I mean, makeup application really doesn’t get much easier than this.

During the day time, I use this eye gloss to give my eyes some depth, and I do so by gently patting a few drops in the creases of my eyelids, after I apply concealer and loose powder as a primer. Then I throw on some brown eyeliner and black mascara and I’m good to go! At night, I create a bit more of a dramatic eye makeup look by applying it below my bottom lashlines (I use an eyeliner brush for that) and topping it off with jet black liquid eyeliner on the top lids, black kohl eyeliner on the bottom.

What’s even better than the fact that this eye gloss is so easy to apply, you can practically put it on without even using a mirror? Its ingredients, that’s what! Like all the awesome products in the jane Iredale family, this eye gloss is chock-full of nourishing ingredients like macadamia nut oil, but free of the bad stuff, like fillers, synthetic dyes and chemical preservatives. An all-around win!
