5 Summer Makeup Tips: Look Cool In The Heat

The hot days are here again! Look your best with these quick summer beauty tips:

1.) Protect your skin

Apply a moisturizer with an SPF of 25 or higher daily! You can be exposed to harmful UVA and UVB rays even on the cloudiest days. Apply your SPF moisturizer to a clean face and allow 10 minutes for it to absorb before applying your foundation. Or, you can always find your shade of tinted moisturizer, this is also very convenient because it gives you moisture and tint.

2.) Get your glow on, no shine

To eliminate shine in seconds use blotting papers. A quick trick is blotting before dusting your face with a pressed powder. This will eliminate shine and give you a glowing effect.

3.) Lighten up

Deep, rich colors tend to look a little too heavy when they are worn in summer. Switching to a sheer version of your fave lip colors and eye hues is an easy way to lighten it up. For extra definition, line your lips before your gloss. Everyday neutrals and pretty pastels will give a sheer, sophisticated look.
You can also chose to swap out your heavier foundation for tinted moisturizers, as these sheer formulas are less likely to turn cakey on humid days.

4.) Be waterproof

A great way to keep your lashes looking better in the warmer months is to use waterproof mascara. Keeping your makeup waterproof is a must, whether you’re sweltering in city heat or spending a day at the beach. Hint: Reddish-brown mascaras best compliment those with lighter skin tones and lighter hair. If you have naturally dark lashes, feel free to try clear mascara. And keep it light for daytime wear! At night you can apply two coats of mascara to draw more attention to your eyes for an evening look. Darker mascara not only creates a more dramatic look, but makes your eyes appear whiter, too.

5.) Bronze believably

Apply bronzer to the high points of your face; these are the points where the sun would naturally hit you, like your cheekbones, chin, nose and forehead. When you apply a loose powder bronzer use a brush with fluffy long bristles; this type of brush keeps you from depositing too much color.
If you are wearing your hair in a ponytail, make sure to brush your ear lobes and neck. Nobody wants a tanned face with pale earlobes!
